Chosing Friday

Still in setup-mode for the blog. The next step was to chose a theme. There are a lot of beautiful designs out there, but I was looking for something fairly minimalistic without being too dry. I opted for a recent design: friday-theme by Simon Freytag. I love the fonts which are not too big but still legible, and the two-column design.

Some of the other features I like:

  • automatic tagging for posts
  • nice support for photos (even if I may not need it too much, photos are nice and make things colorful)
  • some nice elements for profiles

Things that needed some work:

  • turn the template from profile-first to blog-first
  • getting markdown to work with pygments properly
  • I still have not quite figured out how to make all of Markdown to display properly (e.g., blockquotes)

But overall I am really happy with how it looks and behaves. What do you think?

Oh.. wait, I haven’t understood how to get comments yet, but when I do, let me know what you think!
